462430 2006-06-19 04:39:00 What makes you think you won't wait as long to get a human voice on the phone as you would wait in the queue?
A fair question Jack but I have seen people grow old waiting in IRD and Post Office queues......

462431 2006-06-19 05:34:00 Thanks for all replies.

Andrew, franking credits have been around for a long, AMP mainly for us, that's Aussie Taxation, we claim the o/seas though.

There were 2 capital payouts from AMP and HPG which have also been included, perhaps they have taken Capital Gains Tax off already, Dr Cullen is short of money!.

Checked on the IRD Online Services, less info on that site. Will now wait in line for more details.

JJJJJ right on here, but will wait in line.

kiwiTT Could happen on one of these bits of wood too.

That's enough, but will let you know the outcome, if you all don't mind waiting.

462432 2006-06-19 06:01:00 You can't claim the franking credits on Australian dividends in your NZ income tax return. You can only claim NZ imputation credits. Also, capital payouts / receipts are exactly that, i.e. a return of capital and by the IRD definition, capital <> income so any returns of capital is not income and should not be included in your income tax return. Maybe the Australian franking credits and capital payouts are the issue.

462433 2006-06-20 05:42:00 Thanks Andrew, no Aussie franking has been claimed. We don't trade in shares, but the Share Registrar for AMP NZ said it should be treated as income.

We will find out this Friday at 10.45hrs. We did not have to wait long at IRD reception, like WINZ you now make an appointment for a later date.

Have you tried the new Online facility for the IRD?, that's another thing we will have to sort out with them.

Have always used spreadsheets to collect and link to our IR3 spreadsheets.

Have trouble with Excel linking compared to Lotus Symphony, that shows one's age.

462434 2006-06-23 03:44:00 As stated, here I am with the result from the IRD .

Thanks to all who replied to my query .

As stated in an earlier post, our daughter worked for the IRD, inputting all those IR3 & IR 5 forms and she told us that all squares that did not have a value to put 0 . 00 in them .

Well I have done this for many years now and what has happened is that the the inputter at IRD did not enter 0 . 00 in the 11c box not liable for ACC Levy and of course both wifey and I were stung .

Just like that .

Hope other folks watch out for this little "lurk", could help Dr Cullen get more Tax . How can we save more! see today's The Press .

Thanks again pressf1 helpers' .

Lurking .

Ps . That's $236 . 00 we will be able to save, maybe not Power bill will be hefty down here .

lurks .
