| 461907 | 2006-06-10 01:29:00 | simmered for a few hours electricity aint free...... Electricity: 20c Not quite accurate, divide chicken by total paid, minus previous % consumed. Water - can be checked from your water rates bill unless like us, you use bore water. Herbs - well did you buy seeds or plants at some point? Do you make your own compost or buy extra fertilisers/manure etc? Probably not a huge cost but still not free.Yeah perfectly valid points. We bought the herb plants as wee babies and nurtured them in pots on the deck. Our water isn't borehole - I think it's about 50/50 Waikato river and Waitakere resevoir. But if these arguments are taken to the N'th degree (en.wikipedia.org) then I'd have to factor in the cost of wear and tear on my socks while standing in front of the stove, the percentage of my life insurance during the time I cooked, the extra cost of lighting in the kitchen during said time, ad infinitum. |
