701016 2008-08-28 04:06:00 I want to replace a 512 MB DDR PC3200 RAM with a 1GB DDR 400 stick. But the PC won't boot properly. This is on a K8VGA-M motherboard and the BIOS is set to AUTO for memory. Anyone help out? bpt2 (6653)
701017 2008-08-28 04:26:00 are you sure the 1Gb stick is ok? When I used to do this as a business, you need to try the 1GB stick on a board you know it should work on. This will help solve:
1: does the stick work
2: is it compatible with the board

If it works in another board but not yours then I doubt fiddling with the timing parameters in bios will fix it. I never got this to work reliably and they generally always failed under test loads.

701018 2008-08-28 08:05:00 The stick is new so I assume ok. I notice however that the DRAM setting in the BIOS does not allow for a manual setting above 250 Mhz. The motherboard however can accommodate RAM up to 400 Mhz. bpt2 (6653)
