464303 2006-06-19 01:28:00 i read the herald this morning and this tech guy said NZ's satellite signal is getting weaker ever since those satellite problems. He said he fixed his skytv rain fade problem by install a 90cm satellite dish and took away skytv's 60cm satellite dish. When skytv launches their new satellite, will that make nz's satellite signal stronger?

And i think skytv are going to release IPTV. And i guess with this, we won't need satellite dishes so that'll fix the rain fade problem.

464304 2006-06-19 01:34:00 i think you will find that bulk of the data will be via the dish.

also fitting your own bigger dish is not a bad idea no matter where you are as it will lessen the likly hood of rain fade. however it will never prevent it.

However, based on how Telecom's network handled the jump from 2 to 3.5MBit and the fact Jetstream seems to cut out whenever there is a bit of wind and rain, you might be better sticking with a 90cm dish.

Ah, that may explain why some of our channels like Disney are behaving like rainfade . I thought it was related to unsubscribing from the movie and sport channels as it started right after that . I didn't bother calling Sky to report it, everything seems to cost you $25 when you deal with them, and the channels in question aren't worth that .
