464273 2006-06-19 01:09:00 Hi guys, new the forum here and my main reason for posting is because i just built a new SLi system. Running and AMD Duel Core 4800+ Processor, with 2 SLi-7600's w/ 256mb ea. x-fi sound, 2 gb of Corsair RAM, Maxtor 10,000 rpm 300gb hd ( tbh it only shows 279 :( ) Anyways, im running my cpu without gaming ( firewalls, internet, messengers, music, videos, ect. ) at anywhere from 29-32 C. and when i game (Fear, Battlefield 2, Half Life2 all on max settings and resolutions ) i have yet to see my cpu get above 37C video cards range from 38-41 deg. C while running games. Wanting to know what all u xperts think i should do to make it blow cooler. currently using 2 80 cm in back 2 in front 2 fan on psu, 5 fans on pci ( 2 3d edges, see pics ) 2 fan heatsync. 1 fan on side. anyways wondering if i should leave this alone or can i improve? ( yes i checked some old posts, last 1 i read about temps was dated back to 2004 on ur board ...so no "searc bs" plz ;) ) thanks! -Crow

yes i know the wires are a lil cluttered, i need to get some zip ties and make it look all nice and pretty, that may improve cooling a tad.

464275 2006-06-19 01:13:00 how i check hd temps? Crow (10581)
464276 2006-06-19 01:19:00 what app are you useing to read the temps with? tweak'e (69)
464277 2006-06-19 01:30:00 first of the pics are friggen HUGE . warning to dail uppers

first thing would be to move the hardrive to a decent location, ie behind the fans .

2nd, make sure the front fans (combined) flow as much as the rear fans (combined, don;t forget to add the PSU fan)

3rd, get a decent PSU . no point risking a good system with a elcheapo PSU .

4th, cut case fan grils out and replace with wire grills . this will up the airflow quite a bit .

5th, don't forget you can only cool the cpu as low as the case temps, which can only go as low as room temp . so make sure room temp is low enough, the case temp is low enough (no more than 5 degrees above room temp), then you can play with cpu coolers :)

464279 2006-06-19 04:48:00 Those are good, the CPU is fine and the GFX cards are REALLY low compared to mine... (7800GTX) anyway, the GFX cards are designed to slowdown at 115C so, nothing to worry about.

Install Speedfan, that can do the HDDs

464280 2006-06-19 08:12:00 those temps are more than adequate, my gfx cards idle at around 42 and my cpu fan barely ever speeds up and I only have 2 120mm fans in my case (lian-li v1000+) lagbort (5041)
464281 2006-06-19 23:18:00 thanks guys! so i shouldnt change anything i take it? Also i have troubles with explorer.exe not responding during bootup and shutdown. i read somewhere that it had to do with sp2 what yall know about this? -Crow Crow (10581)
