701567 2008-08-31 05:55:00 Theres a switch on the PSU.

DONT change it to 110 tho, if its already on 230. You'll kill the system

I meant one of the molex connectors in the case, not the PSU / voltage on the outside

Whats the brand of this PSU?? Hopefully not Hyena

701568 2008-08-31 05:55:00 Well if there is no little red switch saying 240 / 110 then you can ignore that one if you had one you would see it on the back of the power supply, not all of them have it gary67 (56)
701569 2008-08-31 06:00:00 no its not hyena it looks like its procn or something along those lines. JasonF (11755)
701570 2008-08-31 06:01:00 It's sounds like the CPU isn't working. Have you had a close look at that? Is it mechanically ok? rumpty (2863)
701571 2008-08-31 06:05:00 What do you mean by mechanically ok? JasonF (11755)
701572 2008-08-31 06:11:00 That was in reply to speedy - how do I tell if it is on 240 or 110? Is there anyway to be sure that its the switch that has failed.

Some power supplies can be set to 110 volts or 240 volts. Usually another switch on the PSU for the likes of SurferJoe46.

There is one way to check if the front case switch has failed.

You need the motherboard manual and a screwdriver. You have the case open and short out two pins where the front switch lead attaches. Without knowing the motherboard I can not be sure which two at this time. This should start the PC. But you just short two pins.

Make and model of motherboard would be useful here.

Can you get a sure brand name plus wattage and amperage on all rails of the power supply.
