701833 2008-09-01 09:41:00 Hey There...

I recently recieved my computer back from being checked and the company (PB TECH) said they could not get my computer to crash.

The problem was that whenever a game was played e.g. Battlefield, the system would around 2-5 minutes in crash to desktop, blue screen, or freeze up. This didnt just happen with Battlefield, but with every game i have installed.

I have reasonably good specs, so i see no need for this to be crashing.

Nvidia 8800GTS
2GB Ram
Intel Dual Core 6600 2.40 GHz
Windows XP

I got recommended to use ATITool to try overclocking ( I think that is the word ) to see what is wrong with the system.

Using this and 3D Mark I found that it was my CPU (core) that was the problem.

On ATI Tool the Memory could run up to around 800ish MHz before errors arose.
But when testing the cores it actually froze up and blue screened on me when it got to around 600 MHz, which i dont think is normal for a 2.40 GHz CPU.

When using 3DMark, it ran all the graphics tests beautifully :D
but then ran around 1-2 FPS on the CPU tests.

I apologise if any of my terminology is incorrect, seeing the computer blue screened on me on my first attempt on writing this, and I'm not the greatest whizz with computers.

If there is anything you need to try help, or could suggest some things, i have tried pretty much everything anyone has suggested, and even PB TECH can't find anything wrong.
So Thanks in advance :) if anyone could help this awfull problem.

Also, it might be environmental issues, but PB didnt test any full running games, and im sure the computer is getting enough air, with atleast 15cm on each side of the case.
I could send pictures of anything if anyone needs also.
Thanks Again :\

I would think overclocking anything is the last thing you want to do if you suspect a hardware problem.

If its OK on 3DMark then the graphics card is fine. You always get 1-2fps on the CPU test in it, ignore it.

What resolution are you playing these games at?

701836 2008-09-02 00:32:00 OKay.....BSOD are always either a hardware driver issue or RAM issue.....so I would forget OClocking anything until your system is stable. The reason the PC is crashing while gaming is because that is when your system is under the most stress....

My money is on your RAM chips, however check the manufacturer web sites for your graphic card, motherboard chipset drivers 1st for updates....then get 1 of the many memory test programs and start testing your RAM, try with 1 module also....

701837 2008-09-02 05:06:00 Okay um... Ill wait till it bluescreens and write down the code but i think last time it was something like -

Error Message: STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER

I always play them at 1680x1050.. my screens natural resolution
