464241 2006-06-18 18:55:00 Doctors covering strike get $200 an hour . From today's Herald.

If I was a junior doctor I would stay on strike for a year or until I got $200 an hout too.

No wonder I can't get a doctor at night or weekends.

464243 2006-06-18 21:57:00 Senior doctors normally get paid around $75/hr - these are urgent temporary measures which have been put in place for the duration of the strike (ie. triple pay) to encourage those normally not rostered on to work during their normal days off.

464246 2006-06-20 01:22:00 Seeing how much work my dad does and the training etc he has to do to keep up qualifications etc, doctors deserve it and more! CYaBro (73)
464247 2006-06-20 02:53:00 But the resident doctors don't get triple time for hours over 40 per week. Or even time and a half, or double time. They are expected to work excessive hours, because they are cheap labour.

Managers won't get blamed for errors made by overtired doctors. Managers aren't to blame for anything: it's in their employment contracts.
