| 702208 | 2008-09-03 03:08:00 | "Core Temp" tells me that Tj Max is 105*C. Am I to assume that 105 is the maximum safe temp for my cpu? CPU is an X9650 @ 3.0 GHz O/clocked to 3.6 It is set up to run all XP componants in core #0 . Flight Sim uses spare capacity in #0 plus all of other cores. In operation #0 is always at 100% load. The othe three fluctuate betwee 30 and 100% Core temps are usualy at about 50/53 excepe for core 2 which is always about 10* higher. Can anyone suggest a reason for this? I have had it running at over 4.0GHz with temps in low 70's, but it gets a bit unstable. 3.6 seems a good steady setting. Thanks |

| 702209 | 2008-09-03 04:33:00 | Not sure about core temp, its either that one or real temp that actually show temps 10c less than they are...... I would try HWMonitor.....free download and temps are accurate. 4ghz is a great clock Jack....what have you set the vCPU voltage to, dont you dare leave it on AUTO will you!, that is a no-no. The instablity may be voltage of cpu or RAM or VTT, not the temp! As far as temps go, I like to keep mine under 60-65, currently @ about 52 @ load...... Basically, the cooler the cpu, the longer the life........Now that is not to say, running the cpu @ 70c instead of 45c is going to half the life of your cpu, however, electronic components are not supposed to run hot.....make of that as you will..... |

| 702210 | 2008-09-03 05:07:00 | Thanks Sol. I downloaded HWMonitor and get exactly the same temps from it as I do from CoreTemp. Of course with both running one may just be copying from the other. I have left the voltages on Auto. I don't know enough about them to start altering them. I'm doing it all with the multiplyer. I'm quite happy with what I'm getting now. And I know lifting the voltage will lift the temp. |

| 702211 | 2008-09-03 07:55:00 | Jack you need to set the vcpu voltage manually, if you dont......during a vdroop the auto may over compensate and fry the chip..... You will need to find the default and work from there.... |
