465022 2006-06-22 19:28:00 The good citizens of chch will also find, as I did that the narrow streets push the cyclists into the path of the cars, so that they slow down the traffic movement, and cause a danger to themselves.

What are you guys complaining about with the snow, I have to return to chch next week, and the shock of the change from 35+ celsius here in europe will be unbearable. The crazy thing is that a cyclist doesn't tan on the hands or face, owning to gloves and sunglasses / helmet, so back in chch, guess what the only parts of the body stick out in the cold.....

465023 2006-06-22 22:12:00 Southland bucks cold reputation
23 June 2006
By JARED MORGAN, By SONIA GERKEN

Southland is defying its reputation as the coldest part of New Zealand – and a MetService forecaster admitted yesterday the title was undeserved.

Southland has been experiencing better weather than its northern counterparts this winter.

Snow and sleet consistently forecast to strike Southland and Central Otago since much of Canterbury was blanketed in snow last week has failed to eventuate.
The traditional belief that Southland was the coldest part of the country was often unfounded, Mr Barrow said.
