702312 2008-09-03 15:33:00 The title pretty much says it. I'm wondering how I can find out what the best graphics card is for my computer. It's a pretty old one, 2 years or so and it wasn't really new back then either :P But I'm pretty sure that I can upgrade it at least so that it can play WoW a lil better... Yeah that's right WoW :P

So anyway, how do I find out? At the moment I have a Nvidia geforce4 ti4600... which is pretty much suckage. And I have a Intel Celeron CPU 3,06 GHz.... which is also pretty much suckage.
My motherboard is a ASUStek p4s8x-mx, what can I do to make my life a little bit easier?

Thanks!

(I don't wanna hear about buying a new computer cause I don't have the money for that anyway. thanks again)

702313 2008-09-03 18:51:00 According to Asus website, your computer will support up to an AGP 8x card
There is a comparison of some cards here (www.spodesabode.com) that your computer supports

702314 2008-09-03 20:41:00 Nah...the HD3850 would be the fastest AGP card you can get for that motherboard, however it is hardly worth it considering the CPU would be a huge bottleneck.....
I would build a new box if I were you...

Or a Nvidia 7950GT 512 ddr3 agp 8 x (The best Nvidia agp card but way,way older card and not as good as the newer ATI card.)

2. Best Cpu for your computer:
Intel Pentium 4 3E GHz 800 MHz 1 MB Socket 478 CPU

General Features:
Intel Pentium 4
3E GHz clock speed
PRESCOTT core!
800 MHz Bus Speed
1MB L2 Cache Size
Socket 478
Or this one if you cant get the other one:

General Features:
3.0 GHz clock speed
478-pin package
800 MHz system bus

3. Memory for your computer:

2 x 1 gig ddr400 ram sticks is the best your computer can take. For the cpu, memory, graphics card if you wanted to do that then have a look on trademe or ebay etc., you will find it on there probably and will be cheap.

Memory/Ram you can still get from computer shops no worries, you can get it cheap as,you can get it from DSE,etc.

Make sure you tell them you want ddr 400 memory/ram.

All of those things will make a big difference for what you have now.But of course a newer computer is better.:)

You don't need an entire new PC, but you do need to replace the motherboard, CPU, Graphics and RAM.
