702840 2008-09-05 20:29:00 But despite looking everywhere I cannot find the program to remove it!

My reason for wanting rid of it is that it is fast becoming very intrusive.

It is not listed in add/remove programs and while the search function will lead me to some google areas on the computer, there is no way to remove the program it's self.

Running Mozilla Firefox and Windows XP Pro.

Perhaps a reformat of the HDD might achieve this, but though I might be wrong, I do not remember installing Google in the first place...

702841 2008-09-05 20:33:00 Google toolbar, do you mean? If not, what "all aspects" of Google do you mean?

Cheers :)

702842 2008-09-05 20:35:00 You probably installed it as part of another program.

If you didnt select custom install

So, what do you think you've got that has something to do with google?

When I open Firefox to read news etc, instead of the news coming up on the screen I get the Google search engine occupying the whole screen . From there the only way I can read the news is to type in the news URL into the google search engine . But the same applies to anything I want to look at, I still have to go through Google first .

Meantime I might have solved the problem - I dumped Firefox and switched to IE, and don't have the problem, for the moment anyway .

702845 2008-09-05 21:15:00 Change the homepage then.

My homepage still is, and always has been, Http://www.nzherald.co.nz. Yet somehow Google stuck its search engine in it's place on the opening screen.

I dont think it has anything to do with the homepage, as everything works fine using IE.

702846 2008-09-05 21:16:00 Sounds like FF was screwed up somewhere then. Speedy Gonzales (78)
702847 2008-09-05 21:41:00 if its what I think it is, its a floating box that google has.

Its installed along with other software, a tool bar some times or even Firefox, if its that simply click on the almost invisible X in the top right corner and it will disappear.

If its not what I mentioned how about a screen shot of what you are trying to remove please.
