702810 2008-09-05 10:45:00 The 16 V - .9A. power supply for my Acer S2w 3300 U scanner has vanished. Finding it impossible to replace in dear old Hamilton. Any ideas where I could get one - anywhere? Ralph Tyrrell (14149)
702811 2008-09-05 11:37:00 One of these (www.dse.co.nz) perhaps? feersumendjinn (64)
702812 2008-09-05 12:04:00 Yes, thanks for that - I had seen that DS page and was taking the scanner under arm tomorrow. But none look anything like the original thing. But if she fires up with any of these - we are in business. Thanks again. Ralph Tyrrell (14149)
702813 2008-09-05 12:19:00 Check whether it's AC or DC, also ;) feersumendjinn (64)
702814 2008-09-06 04:07:00 And check the polarity: there's only enough smoke in a scanner for one wrong polarity copnnection. Graham L (2)
702815 2008-09-06 22:01:00 No joy at DS....just won't work. So I am stuck with a scanner with no power supply. My project is scanning heaps of old archival famly/hols pics AND 35mm colour slides (hundreds) from times long ago - when the kids were small and cute and the old house, fishing jaunts etc etc.
But thanks for your advice and support guys - never used this medium before for help, and jeesh, I had useful responses in a flash! Will certainly return for tips in future.

702816 2008-09-07 05:00:00 Hi Ralph for quick results of slides project them onto a wall and re take them with a digital camera on a tripod not quite as good as the results you would get from scanning them but certainly much quicker, my caving club did this and the results look fine on a computer screen just not quite so good for printing. gary67 (56)
702817 2008-09-07 06:06:00 I have an old Vuego 3300U scanner (think Vuego = Acer) that I don't use anymore. It was manufactured in Jan 2001.

Its power adapter has this on it:
Output: 16VDC @1000mA

The power plug for the scanner is 5mm in diameter.

Is this any good for you?

702818 2008-09-07 10:48:00 Gary - that's not a bad idea. I'll rig up next weekend and give it a whirl - good thinking Curruthers.
And Jen - this could be the missing link! My scanner bought early 2002 and it's the 3300 u.November 2001 manufacture date. Getting very warm I would think.
Surely .9amps is not too far from 1000mA? Or will a mild explosion follow?
The plug looks slightly larger than this - O - I'll get a calibrator thing tomorrow and measure it.
If this all works, I'm in your hands to follow through - name ya price.

702819 2008-09-07 11:44:00 Vernier Caliper (www.google.co.nz) = Calibrator thing? :)
.9 amp = 900 milliamps ( = no explosion ( as long as you match polarity etc ))
