702580 2008-09-04 20:21:00 Our club data projector threw a 'wobbly' last night. The general consensus was that the problem was the cable.

But WHAT is it called? Would it be an AVI cable do you think?

I see one advertised at Dick Smith for just under $30 (2 only left in the shop nearest me, so I'd better get my skates on - if that's what I need!).

TIA for your help, as always. :)

Cheers

702581 2008-09-04 20:43:00 I hate to break it to you, but there is not really any such thing as an AVI cable!

If you were using a laptop, it would have been VGA (HD 15)

Or S-Video.

If you were using a desktop, it would have probably been either one of the above, or

RCA (upload.wikimedia.org(photo).jpg) (Just the yellow is for video, white and red are audio, which you may not necessarily use.)

or

RGB (Component) (upload.wikimedia.org)

or

DVI (upload.wikimedia.org)

702582 2008-09-04 20:47:00 Oh dear :( That's what you get for being in a hurry!

Do you think I meant a 'DVI' cable?!!

702583 2008-09-04 20:49:00 You may have, I've never been that great at reading minds. ;)

Look at all the pics I just added, and match the name to the cable. :)

702584 2008-09-05 00:15:00 What makes you thinkit was the cable, very rare a cable would fail like that.....are you sure its not the bulb? SolMiester (139)
702585 2008-09-05 00:32:00 Others 'wiggling' the cable seemed to help.... R.M. (561)
702586 2008-09-05 00:41:00 What was the problem? No signal to the projector, colours funny...? wratterus (105)
702587 2008-09-05 01:07:00 Funny colours, intermittent. R.M. (561)
702588 2008-09-05 01:16:00 Probably more cable connection than cable itself, but it may well be the cable aswell.

Both ends were nice and tight? Sounds like replacing the cable might be the way to go.

702589 2008-09-05 06:45:00 I'll give it another go tonight - in the privacy of my own home! I get marginally stressed with things when 'on show' so to speak, with many well meaning blokes (mainly!) giving lots of advice. I'll report back...

PS Couldn't download the pics at work - slow system.:badpc:
The second one looks most likely, but will have a closer look. :)
