2008-09-04 05:37:00 | Hey there... I am just trying to check my system to see what is wrong and im getting some trouble with ram tests. My computer is continually crashing to desktop or freezing up graphically or blue screening. If anyone could suggest anything to help this please do. I am really tired of this and PB TECH can't find anything wrong I tried to create an ISO file for Memtest86 and 86+ When i rebooted the system it spent around 2 minutes saying: Booting CD/DVD Drive : _ (that was blinking) Then it just went normaly to Windows XP If i am doing anything wrong, or you could suggest anything it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :)

2008-09-04 06:00:00 | Did you download the ISO file from here (www.memtest86.com) then use the ISO burning software in your burner ? You cant simply burn the ISO image as you would normal data. If you dont have a image burner try Image Burn (www.imgburn.com) - because of the _ flashing, sounds like the drives not reading the CD correctly - to test this - try booting from another bootable CD - your XP will do fine, just press any key when asked.

2008-09-04 08:29:00 | Were the errors in the bottom section in red? If so the rams faulty or not seated correctly, remove / replace it and rerun. If you have multi sticks of RAM remove them all and rerun 1 at a time, it only takes 1 stick to cause problems.

2008-09-04 08:32:00 | They were all pretty much red... Ive only got one stick of 2GB ram so should i try fit it again or something???

2008-09-04 09:16:00 | Since its only one single stick take it out, blow out any dust in the RAM slot, refit it and rerun the test, if at any point you start getting Red errors again, stop the test as its faulty - you'll need some new RAM - it does fail from time to time, no matter how old. Since Speedy is currently not here - the hijackthis - is looking clean, you can remove these though O2 - BHO: WormRadar.com IESiteBlocker.NavFilter - {3CA2F312-6F6E-4B53-A66E-4E65E497C8C0} - (no file) O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file) Theres a few things that can be taken out of the startup that are not required to run, but nothing dangerous.

2008-09-04 09:18:00 | thanks so much... i will try that... im just gonna run Windows Mem Diag to just check... Thanks :D | Izoomonu (14038) | |
2008-09-04 09:30:00 | That Windows Mem Diag is Ok as well, sometimes memtest86 works better sometimes Not. Just to double check, if you have some more known good Memory that will fit in your Board, doesn't matter what size, install that and run the tests as well, just incase its an odd problem with the memory Slot on the board.
