| 702438 | 2008-09-04 02:24:00 | Good day folks I am trying to help a friend who has an unusual problem which has just recently manifested itself. The system has been running successfully for some time. She can send mail but cannot retrieve incoming mail using Exchange Version 6. We can access mail through the webmail option and there are no extra large messages or anything else that could cause a problem. Relevant details are MS Exchange XP Home Paradise.net Dialup AVG 7.5 antivirus With advise from Paradise help desk I have deleted and reinstalled the Account and the associated settings within Exchange. The maximum attachment or message size restriction is disabled. I have looked in the AVG 7.5 settings and I have disabled the "Scanning incoming mail option" (At least I think that I have as it is not quite clear in the display) The Internet firewall setting is low. Any ideas on what could be the reason for this blocking of incoming mail would be appreciated. Thank you |

The usual reason for AVG to stop email is an updated AVG component being blocked by the PC's firewall until the firewall permissions are updated. It's the AV program actually fetching the email and delivering it to Outlook Express. Is the AVG the free version? AVG 7.5 must be close to expiring by now. You could try Avast rather than install AVG 8.0 |
