| 702443 | 2008-09-04 02:23:00 | I've been chasing this problem for many months now and have finally had a breakthrough. My winxp pc (intel pentium 4 2.8ghz 2 gb ram) generaly runs faultlessly but about once a week would bsod at unpredictable times. I have run many antivirus, spam and trojan / rootkit progs which all show clean. I've run several memory test progs also show no problems. I only just upgraded to the lates winxp service pack which had no affect on the fault. Today I learnt about ms driver verifier and after many repeat runs I have located a consistent and repeatable fault on one MS driver (all others no problem) The file is ntoskrnl.exe version: 5.1.2600.5512 during the blue screens for this file the text says " the system is attempting to access memory beyond the end of the allocation. This usually indicates a system driver synchonization issue" I've wasted an awful lot of time googling this file etc and being a relative newbie I admit to being out of my depth. I would very much appreciate any ideas on resolving this . |

| 702444 | 2008-09-04 02:29:00 | What is the BSOD you get? | pctek (84) | ||
| 702445 | 2008-09-04 02:31:00 | Dont try to kill ntoskrnl.exe, if you do you'll not boot, its part of windows heres Whats it is (www.processlibrary.com) you may have spyware or something else may be causing the problem. Download Hijackthis (www.trendsecure.com) run and save a log, copy paste the complete log file back here, someone will advice if its in need of cleaning etc. |

| 702450 | 2008-09-05 04:29:00 | Hi - I was running Build Jul 2008 (4.8.1229) I guess fully up to date which it auto does each day. I followed your instructions and it cleaned out nice. Reinstalled a fresh download and PC is behaving nicely with no crashes so far. I very much appreciate the alert to this unexpected find and havn't tried the verifier on the other file to see if it still crashes...or perhaps I had / have several problems? Anyway so far so good computer running sweet! A huge thanks to all. |
