702349 2008-09-03 22:55:00 Hi,
I would like to change the security on my Netgear wireless router from WEP to WPA. My network is PC desktop plugged into router via ethernet, and I have a macbook which connects wirelessly to router.
When I log into the Netgear router and go to the wireless settings, it gives me these choices:

WPA-PSK (Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key)
WPA2-PSK(Wi-Fi Protected Access 2 with Pre-Shared Key)
WPA-PSK+WPA2-PSK
WPA-802.1x
WPA2-802.1x
WPA-802.1x+WPA2-802.1x

So, which one should I set up? Any help appreciated.

Or straight WPA2 PSK if all the computers on your network can handle it.

I'd start of with WPA2-PSK, and if your Macbook doesn't support it, then drop down to WPA-PSK.

702353 2008-09-03 23:10:00 Thats a pretty good option that...#3, both WPA & WPA2 so older hardware can still connect!!... SolMiester (139)

Yep, that's what I run at home.

A lot of Wireless Routers don't have that option actually.

Yes, changed my security to WPA2-PSK, entered the passcode on the mac, no problems at all. Sweet! :D
