RUGBY? Is that something like sissy football where the players, (not a serious name for a killer on the field) wear short pants and tank-tops? | 465913 | 2006-06-25 06:07:00 | Hmmmm . . RUGBY? Is that something like sissy football where the players, (not a serious name for a killer on the field) wear short pants and tank-tops? American football is about as rugged as Lacrosse SJ, in fact Lacrosse is more rugged because players risk getting whacked by an opponent's "handbag on a stick" and they could tear their tights or muss up their hairdos at any moment . Now, rugby is a man's game, a contact sport with no padding, no helmets, and major risk of god-damned serious injury under the high ball, under a scrum, or at the bottom of a ruck! Rugby League is even tougher, that is a serious CONTACT sport . When the commentators talk about bone-crunching tackles, they really mean bone crunching, and when those guys retire from the "sport" they frequently find that their muscle tissue in prime contact areas ossifies (turns into bone) . IMHO, if you put a rugby or rugby league team into the field against a US football team playing a contact ball-game unfamiliar to both teams, the rugby/league players would wipe the floor with any opposition . I speak from long experience buried in the depths of an armchair! Cheers Billy 8-{) :D |
