Should I go for DDR3 system or DDR2 is good enough? Notice that DDR2 RAM is much cheaper than DDR3. Is it worth getting a DDR3 system, and how much performance gain can be expected?

DDR 2 is cheaper as they are trying to get rid of it as DDR 3 has been out for a while now.Like I said before in my other post above I would get DDR 3 MB and DDR 3 ram so you are not stuck with the old ram and old MB that no one would want to buy off you later when you want to upgrade again later on.

It will get faster and faster as time goes on and they improve on them and the speeds increase you can get DDR3 1900 as an example.

Anyone can afford this from www.pricespy.co.nz
1GB DDR3 SDRAM $58.01
2GB DDR3 SDRAM $138.23

702644 2008-09-08 12:52:00 Downloaded and have a quick browsed through the user-manual of the GA-x48-DQ6 MB, noticed that it requires 2x4 12V power connector. The Thermaltake 750W Toughpower PSU specification says it supports dual core CPU but not too sure whether it has 2x4 12V power connector? I'm puzzling whether this PSU is suitable for the MB? Or shall I get the Thelmatake 850W which says it supports quard core CPU?

Can someone please enlighten me on the above?

Thanks.

702645 2008-09-08 13:07:00 Gosh that sort of PSU is suitable for all modern motherboards. I think the 2x4 12V connectors are to power the CPU, and one is enough for a dual core. Never had a quad, so I assume you'd need two, in which case I am very sure the above PSUs would have two. qazwsxokmijn (102)
