The reason you don't use underpowered trucks to pull big loads is because it kills them, The engine, drive train, and everything else has to be relivent to the load its pulling.

How much fuel it uses is of little importance, And its factored into whatever costs are charged, either way the monthly fuel bill of the average trucking firm is multiple thousands a month.

Anyhow, this thread is wickedly stupid. Those people didn't realise that sometimes big engine saves fuel. 1000kms of fuel being eaten and travelled not more than 300kms means you need a big engine to haul it otherwise V8 will waste your fuel. Get it? If it travels more than 300kms than it is OK to use Straight Six Cylinder Engine, but less than that give up or change tractor. Make sense? It is common for people use S6 engine trucks to pull heavy loads but there is limit to it.

467118 2006-06-29 11:09:00 Beetle, I saw a bumper sticker that said Sexy Bitches drive Red Cars. Do you think that applies to trucks too?? Or is that just totally irrevelant to fuel consumption and truck running costs? Who knows? And did the red truck have the same load as the blue one? And where were they going? Andrew B (867)

beetleCC is not important. The most important thing is that the truck is capable of handling the load or not. Meet Australian Road Trains. They're so long. Plus they have 600bhp+ under the hood.www.pressf1.co.nz Or they can't travel fast enoguh.
