466853 2006-06-29 00:18:00 Thanks guys .

There’s a few suggestions there I would never have dreamt off .

So far Isopropyl Alcohol – Methylated Spirits – Kerosene – Turpentine – Fuelite & Petrol have been miserable failures although Turpentine did try .

On the other hand, Epoxy Resin Thinner, (acetone based I think) was right on the case, but I had to beat a hasty retreat because it was lining up the paint too . :groan:

The problem as I see it, is that to get to the adhesive, you have to penetrate the backing and there lies the problem . On top of that, as "gf" has already pointed out, I’m faced with a variety of adhesives and backing tape .

Anyway, I’m keen to see if I can find a silver bullet, so I’ll get back on how the experiment turns out .

Thanks again everyone for your input .

466854 2006-06-29 02:11:00 I know I pushed it b4 . . . but yes . . . WD-40 is probably where I'd start .

The secret is to get to the back side of the glue . . I soak the offending sticker in WD-40 for a few hours or so and it will really . . . yup, really! peel off .

Any residue will then easily roll up or slide away with a naked finger .

We use it for bumper stickers and you know how tough they are to remove .

You will then be . . UN stuck!

466855 2006-06-29 02:33:00 UnDU or DeSolv-It works for me, desolv-it is best when you want to kill all the glue + the label that it was from.

UnDU lifts stickers/labels without destroying the glue on them

466856 2006-06-29 02:37:00 Meths is a very Bad Idea . It's not even a very good drink ("Purple Lady") when you want to get blind drunk . The blind part works .

It can remove paint . It is a disaster on some clear plastics . . . if you want translucent, cracked, perspex meths is the way .

Keep meths for preheating the Primus .

466857 2006-06-29 04:40:00 Meths is fine Graham, as long as it’s filtered through a felt hat and a loaf of bread. ;)

Best consumed under the Grafton Bridge in the right atmosphere. :waughh:
