466710 2006-06-27 21:52:00 What are your thoughts when it comes to prepaid mobile phones?

I currently have an 025 number on prepay and this works fine. My main issue is that I would like a mobile that goes on the 027 network and is prepaid. I would like to have ringtones that are louder than I currently have. This is as I can't hear the phone ring whilst I am in a truck or out on the golf course or even in my car with the radio on.

I don't need a camera, email, wap, txt and I would like to be with the Telecom network.

Changing from Orcon to Xtra and also tolls back to Telecom on the landline.

.

Why not use Telecom's Onebill system where by all mobile calls can be billed back to your landline. My wife did this last week rather than use prepay..

Sounds like a good idea. I had not realised this was an option. Thanks for the input.

I believe that the charges for calls are a little more expensive per minute with that plan, though . Or so I have heard, I haven't actually researched it myself .

Sweep: you could try contacting Telecom regarding swapping your current phone as a lot of people have done recently . Some have got a free replacement, others had to pay $49 .

The replacement is a Nokia 2280 however, and the ringtones are not that loud . Well, for me they aren't anyway . Otherwise it is a good basic phone .

Like I said, look around, some shops still have them in their stores.

We were told the same as or cheaper than prepay . I think 45c / min day and nite . . Will wait for the first bill and see .

466715 2006-06-28 01:58:00 Thanks for that. In the morning I will visit my local Telecom shop and take the current mobile with me. I'm not worried about changing my phone number. Want 027 and so I can hear it ringing. Budget about $250 - $300.
If you change from 025 to 027 you can keep your existing phone number. I changed four phones over on the "free phone" deal and kept all four numbers.

That budget will buy you a wide range of options, but you can get a no frills phone for well under $200.

Cheers

466716 2006-06-28 06:37:00 Thanks everyone. I have decided on the Nokia 3155. I will probably keep the other one as well which is prepay. Didn't need a camera with it otherwise I probably would have gone for the 6325.

Your comments duly noted and found useful.

Possibly not relevant to the original thread but the 2280 is currently on special with a trade in when switching from 025 to 027 at $69 at Telecom outlets

466718 2006-07-06 05:58:00 I have found that the 2280's have a loud ring, well my old one did.

Do not get a pantech, they are just a renamed hyandai (sp) and are totally sh*t

Sanyo 7400's are excellent.
