466612 2006-06-27 06:22:00 does anybody know if i can connect a dvd player to a lcd monitor ? what i am looking to do is make a display screen that i can constantly roll pictures through to advertise - you know a mini version of the ones you see at airports duty free shops, holiday shops etc.

I have looked at LCD tvs and they are all up around 700 bucks - a monitor can be bought for a little under 300. I'd prefer not to have to hook up a pc if possibel as i want to leave it running and be able to take the laptop away.

cheers

466613 2006-06-27 06:50:00 Sorry, can't help you.

Just admiring your bravery in posting with a username like that in this forum.
Don't you know New Zealand is supposed to win the rugby world champs?

466614 2006-06-27 07:00:00 Yeah you can. england_rugbyworldchampionwhingers usually manage to do it by first poking a length of copper cable into a live wall socket. Greg (193)

I didn't mean my joke meant more would follow - stopping a new poster getting a proper reply.

So welcome to Press F1, england_rugbyworldchamps.

Nice wit, original too. You'll probably have another 20 years to think of an equally amusing response at this rate too !!!

466618 2006-06-27 09:41:00 The english might hold the rugby world cup, but what are the chances of them holding the football worldcup.

GO PORTUGAL

GO PORTUGAL

That my friend is the holy grail of sport to us from the motherland

(not wanting to wind the kiwi's up any more *ahem* but we don't really even care about rugby that much !!)

And i can't see Portugal beating us (or anybody else for that fact in this tournament)...typical English blind faith for you there !!

466620 2006-06-27 23:28:00 It is possible to get a TV tuner unit that will take the DVD output and convert to computer monitor. They are often sold for game consoles. Might be pricey here ($150). PaulD (232)
466621 2006-06-28 05:52:00 I wouldn't exclude the possibility totally. A DVD player I repaired once (a DSE 1912, I think) had the holes on the board for a 15 pin HD VGA connector. I might yet knock a hole in the case and solder in a connector, just for fun. ;)

P.S. "dvd player vga" to Google will find mentions of such animals; even the NZ only button finds some links. Seek and you will find ...
