2008-09-07 10:36:00 | In the My Computer screen, there are several folders which I would like to know what they are and do. You may think I am a bit thick, but if one does not ask, how will one learn. They are: Config.msi, ALCSETUP text doc. BOOTSECT.BAK. CSB text doc. hpfr3425 text doc. hpfr3420 xml doc. FileIn.cns and FileOut.cns. If they were removed, what could happen? Thanks.

2008-09-07 11:11:00 | They look like system files. You MAY be able to delete hpfr3425.txt, hpfr3420.xml - do you have an HP printer? What size are the files?

2008-09-07 11:21:00 | Yes, I have an hp printer. The xml file is 1kb, the other is 42kb. None of the files are big, it is the not knowing what they are/do that gets me I have many reference books and magazines, but none have any relevance to these files. It may be that I am too fussy or too curious.

2008-09-07 11:26:00 | Google all of the names. There's plenty of info on all the files that you mentioned. | beeswax34 (63) | |
2008-09-07 11:27:00 | If they are not hogging too much HD space, just leave them. If you find your way into the C:\Windows\System32\ folder and you get "curious", you might not have a working computer anymore ;)
