| 469345 | 2006-07-07 23:24:00 | Further to this thread (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz) I got a quote from NZ Couriers (the only one that replied on a Saturday) of sixty dollars for a maximum of 25 kg's. Our bathroom scales have rusted to the extent that it can't measure anything. So, can someone please give me an approx weight of a computer - full ATX case, 17" CRT monitor and usual peripherals. Thanks! |

Thanks! For your enlightenment: The rust on the bathroom scale will not add anything to the total weight of the computer . I can figure it out, but I need some more info: Are the harddrives full or not? Have the been defragged? Is it USB 1 or USB2? Is it a 240v or 120v? What is the OPSYS? ME is very heavy, 98 is lighter, but 95 is the lightest . Linux will have to be removed before shipping as it's unstability makes it a liability in shipping . Linus also has longer boots too . . . they must be removed . |

| 469352 | 2006-07-08 03:05:00 | depends a lot . my system not including monitor would easly weigh over 20kg . . . more like 25kg . good cases and power supplies weigh a lot . now you can see why cheap system builders love cheap PSU's and cheap cases . |

| 469353 | 2006-07-08 03:43:00 | Aluminium case or steel? Steels heavier. Much stuff in it? Like 4 HDDs, 2 opticals etc? Full tower or midi or mini? A really full steel tower case might go over 25kg but its unlikely. At a rough guess, 18 to 22kg. |
