If it was not for the revenue, then the licence demerit system would be the main means of discouragement. Speeding drivers would rather pay a fine, than accept demerit points. The money can be replenished, not the demerits. But the cops dont want the speeders off the road cause then bye-bye goes their cash cow. |

Unless they operate in a manner outside all other crown organisations, all money gathered by way of fines simply goes into the Govenment's "consolidated fund", and is not returned to the Police in any tangible or direct manner whatsoever. Look higher up the food chain for any "directive", its all about Government revenue, not about Police cash flows. It depends if one translates to the other in any way at departmental budget times, when funding is allocated for the year. I see it has already been declared as a "target", not a "quota". Does that make us all feel better...? Not. |
