| 467777 | 2006-07-02 04:02:00 | Excellent post - attitude is everything. If you think young, you'll feel young. The body might disagree and slowing down is sensible but keep thinking like you are decades younger. Don't lose your sense of curiosity and wonder. The hardest part of aging is becoming cynical - seen it all before. Avoid that at all costs. Cynicism is poisonous for the spirit. Remember what the world looks like through the eyes of a child and you'll be rejuvenated. At least that's my theory and works so far. :2cents: You can say all that when you are in your early forties. All Iould like to say is,it's alarming how fast time passes us by. I hope all on here make the most of the time they have,it is so short,JJ will attest to that. |

| 467781 | 2006-07-02 05:05:00 | Come on guys (and gals)!! Everyone knows that once you pass 40, old is always 10 years older than yourself. I know 30 year olds who act and look like they are 80 and I know 80 year olds who act like they are 30 and look...well...a bit older than 30, but certainly not ancient. I recently heard the Queen quote Groucho Marx: "Anyone can grow old, all you have to do is live long enough." Cheers, Marnie :) |

I found an incredibly long pure white hair growing out the side of my nose. Didn't think the side of the nose even had hairs normally. Naturally I ripped it out immediately. |

Didn't think the side of the nose even had hairs normally. Naturally I ripped it out immediately. So true. My son looked at my eye brows recently, and said "now I know where I got these from", and looked resigned... And yes, they do grow out of the side of the nose... And it seems so unfair if you have 'male pattern baldness' yet your body insists that whilst it won't grow hair on top of your head, it will grow it ANYWHERE ELSE DAMN IT. :o And the texture of your hair changes with age, so those few strands that persist in the barren fields grow straight up, instead of behaving themselves and lying down. The only strategy then is to shave the top of your head and retain some semblance of dignity. :groan: |

| 467784 | 2006-07-02 06:46:00 | I suppose you could always do what The Baldy Man did. Grow it long on one side and then swish it over the top of your head (and hope the wind isn't blowing when you go outside :p) Anyway, whilst I still have a few years before 40 and a decade thereafter for 50, I am starting to see the signs of age already. I do wonder if I can get away with saying the grey hairs near my ears are racing stripes. Anyone tried that? Thankfully I'm blonde so the stripes are barely noticeable. I'm also accusing blonde for my forgetfulness. Also notice that inflation has hit the spare bike tyre I carry around.. sooner or later I await taxation to hit it but alas I doubt I will be so lucky. I just hope Metlas older than me ... nothing like an old man dig at someone in denial :p |

| 467785 | 2006-07-02 06:50:00 | You know the years are passing when you hear people on the wireless, or politicians, as just the other day, talk about "way back in the mists of time, way back in the 1990s", or way back in the 1980s etc. Whereas to me "way back" is sometime over 50 years ago, but then again I'm beginning to remember things that happened then, somewhat better than what happened last week :) |
