703759 2008-09-09 05:43:00 Haha, personally I use reiserfs, but the main reasons people use FAT32 is for compatibility, file permissions and patent issues. Erayd (23)
703760 2008-09-09 06:22:00 Why dont you use NTFS anyway, fat32 has a 4gb file limit.....no good for storing DVD's or VM's....

The router (www.dlink.com.au) only supports FAT16 or FAT32

703765 2008-09-09 07:40:00 Did anyone read what Wainuitech said? Of course you can FAT32 a biggish hard-drive; but what was the original question, the answer lies in the equipment. PENTIUM (426)
703766 2008-09-09 09:36:00 Hi, I have a DI-624s, too and I had format a HD 250Gb in fat32 like NAS connect at USB port.

GO to www.dlink.com.au
key in DI & 624s then go --You can find some topic you may want to know

Expand "File sharing setup" -->How to setup my USB disk then click "available here"
Guide you to www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk

Download the "fat32format" then you can format Your HD in fat32.

Good luck.
The HD connectted at DI-624s is very slow.
I do not like it.

HI worked through d-link ages ago and never helped.
updated the firmware today and that has done nothing except now i cant even see the drive connceted to the Router and when i try to connect to the Router in network on Vista, it shows the DI-624S but wont let me access it to see the drive and printer there, error saying it is not possible to disconnect at this time, which i dont want to do anyway, it says it is busy with a connect or disconect operation.
i think I will flag using it on the Router and just share it on one of the other computers, just thought it was a good idea.
Maybe i will take it back to factory reset and start agian and not worry about the drive. once you have done a firmware upgrade can you do that?
Cheers for all the help guys
