Wasn't the 7600 enough? Its a good card, not the highest specced, but you knew that. If its suitable for your needs then great. I, on the other hand, bought a card I didn't need.:clap |

I probably didn't need a card quite as high spec but hey... :D I, on the other hand, bought a card I didn't need.:clap :D That's normal, is it not? I do that kind of thing all the time.... :punk |

| 703500 | 2008-09-08 23:56:00 | I have two of those in SLI on my latest gaming machine. Very strong card for the price, and noise wise pretty quiet compared to my other SLI 8800GT machine. The design of the card and HSF is well thought out, the only downside I've noticed is the card is very long and in smaller cases can make getting at the hard drives tricky, once more its down to placement of the hard drives. Havent had any issues with drivers (64bit in my case), its completely mauled every game i've tried, very happy with the cards. Wouldnt touch ATI with a 50 foot pole, though i would be interested in hearing if they still require you to install .NET before you can install their video card drivers and control panel. Thought it was a stupid idea when i first encountered it and would be stunned if they are still doing it. |

| 703503 | 2008-09-09 01:50:00 | As for the whole ATI/Nvidia battle, I owned an ATI card once, it underperformed for what it was, and my laptop has an ATI card in it, for the same $$ I could have got an Nvidia one, which I know for a fact blows mine away. Just a personal preference thing, I don't like their software either, but thats just me. And I can say with utmost sincerity that I never want one again. I like ATi cards but not the software. It's nicer to use, but I hate the stupidly high resource usage and the fact it runs on .Net I like Nvidia cards more, but their (new) software is junk to use, however if you use nvtray you can get the classic panel back :D |

You can download drivers etc as individual files and avoid .net. |

| 703505 | 2008-09-09 03:33:00 | I thought the 4870 was generally considered better value? I had the impression it was between the 260 and 280 but cheaper than the 260. The 4850 better value still but obviously without the speed 4800 have terrible cooling solutions.....I wouldnt touch one.......so to speak...LOL |

| 703506 | 2008-09-09 03:36:00 | Time for an upgrade, the mighty 7600GT has been very faithful, and doesn't owe me a cent. It's still a darn good card for the $$ it's worth. Anyhoo, opinions? I paid $494 for an Asus GTX 260 Extreme. Just interested in what everyone thinks about it, didn't see the point in going for the 280, I don't need it. I believe NV are releasing a 260+ with another quad of SP's....so ummmm, might not have been the best timing mate! |
