469471 2006-07-09 08:14:00 I'm suprised at what you're car is like plod. The engine used in the Maxima, has won the best engine awards for the last three or four generations of that particular model. No doubt, they are more economical than anything I've seen. Even the latest model at 3.5 litres beats the peanuts out of your typical mid-2 litre vehicles.
They might have won the beat engine award, but that doesn't mean that they are economical.maybe compared to other engines of the same size.
But when someone goes in looking for an economical car they shouldn't be showen a maxima, maybe a sentra or corolla

469472 2006-07-09 08:29:00 Depending on the circumstance the guy could have been right.

I've got a 10 yr old Honda wagon and it's a lot more thirsty on open road driving than the 2005 V6 commodore I toured the South Island in last year.

I did an Wellington --> Auckland return drive in a 2006 Maxima a month or so ago, and the fuel cost was about 2/3's what it would cost me to get my car up there and back.

God bless rental cars and company trips :DYes, gotta love rental cars :)

When I worked at the Mt (Maunganui) we had a 2 week training course in Rotorua which required going there every morning and coming back every night (the company would rather pay for the lease of the car and petrol than a motel). We were paired off for this training course (about July 2003), but the other guy didnt want to drive the car (Dec 2002 Maxima).
I must say, I have never been able to travel that quickly between the Mt and Rotorua in my Primera. Damn that thing had some get-up-and-go :D
Best 2 weeks I had in the entire time I worked there

469474 2006-07-19 00:10:00 I hate spam ,probably more than most people.

Why is it ,when the mods delete spam , I sit here wondering what the spammer was trying to sell?

Get a Hotmail addy and you'll get all the spam you want.

I always buy privately because I'm no match for flash harrys (never met a harriet) in car yards.

First car I ever bought in about 1970 was from a yard down Great South Rd. As I was heading back to the flat in Ponsnby the clutch thrust bearing carked it on the Newmarket viaduct.

First car I ever bought was an 1929 Essex super six. Bought it in 1946. Tyres were shot on it and it had no spare wheel. It averaged about a puncture per mile.
Second car was a Ford Y. First day I had it I did a racing change down to second gear and the gear box flew apart.

In neither instance did I think to blame the dealer.
Those where the days. Nobody cared if you had a warrant or a driver's lisence either. And only one traffic cop for the whole of the Hutt Valley.

Ahh, so it was you who caused that traffic jam

469478 2006-07-19 02:36:00 LOL no I managed to get it onto the shoulder, walked home and got a mate to give me a tow. Don't think I've bought a car from dealer since. mark c (247)
469479 2006-07-19 05:08:00 I was out this afternoon looking around the card yards, more window shopping then anything.
when I was in wholesale cars direct I over heard one of the saleman talking about a car with a couple
customer:what sought of motor has it
salesman: 6 cylinder V6, and its economical
me: (silently laughing) compared to a V8
The car in question was a late model maxima.
It just makes me laugh to hear this bull**** from them.

How late was it? The latest Maxima claims to do 33 miles to the gallon, which is pretty good for any car, and amazing for a 3.5 litre.
