| 469441 | 2006-11-13 08:13:00 | Should the water in the coolant reservoir show signs of circulation when the engine is running. My 97 Taurus runs hot when at the lights but cools down moderately when on motorway.I don,t lose any water or show signs of water in the oil. Please help, I,m bloody worried it might be a head gasket. | stinger (10692) | ||

| 469443 | 2006-11-14 22:13:00 | have removed thermostat but not changed radiator cap yet, with no change. Are still wondering about water circulation and if maybe there is a way of checking water pump.Would really love to be able to download a workshop manual if anyone knows a site to visit.Cheers, stinger | stinger (10692) | ||
| 469444 | 2006-11-15 02:11:00 | What do you see if you take off the oil cap and look at the oil? Or the oil on the dipstick? Is it nice and oil-coloured or milky? Similarly, does it look like there's any oil in the coolant? And finally, does it seem to blow steam or blue smoke out the tail pipe when you rev the engine? If 'no' to all of those, your gasket is *probably* fine (to the best of my limited knowledge :p) |
