469355 2006-07-08 04:17:00 Great points Joe!!

WinXP is really heavy on a machine, as are graphics and games .

However I expect the more RAM you have the lighter it might get .

If you have these guys on your computer remember to delete them first as they will push your weight well into the excessive range . 5 guys ( . stuffucanuse . com/christmas_cards/christmas_fatties . jpg" target="_blank">www . stuffucanuse . com)

For your enlightenment:

Are the harddrives full or not? Have the been defragged?
Is it USB 1 or USB2?
Is it a 240v or 120v?
What is the OPSYS? ME is very heavy, 98 is lighter, but 95 is the lightest .
Linux will have to be removed before shipping as it's unstability makes it a liability in shipping . Linus also has longer boots too . . . they must be removed .

What did it weigh and what was the cost?

469357 2006-07-10 22:34:00 Not yet. The couriers I've called have been between unhelpful and useless until I get accurate dimensions and weight of the thing. We bought new bathroom scales yesterday and I'll be boxing it up today, so will report back later. Greg (193)

When you post the weight, will you do the math and present the values in KG, pounds (lb's) and Stone?

I assume the stones are granite or some heavy sedimentary type. :waughh:

If you're going to use the bathroom scales while you are holding and then without the computer, make sure you are naked to avoid any false readings.

I'd love to see a photo of that... or actually, maybe not

469360 2006-07-11 06:12:00 Last time I did the bathroom scales/weight analysis thing was to judge hastily whether a young sheepdog needed a large or small pill.

The dog had just been in a pond, then in sheepyards.

Fortunately. I own an oilskin.
Even more fortunately, I didn't believe the joker neighbour who gave me the same advice as Joe's.

469361 2006-07-11 10:40:00 Well I sorted things out, and didn't get much good news.

Case and bits weigh 13KG's
Monitor weighs 23 KG's

Courier Post and NZ Couriers won't take the monitor, full stop. NZ Couriers will transport the case for $36.00, Courier Post for $50.20.

DHL would take both for $119.40 Fliway gave a similar figure.

PosteHaste won't deliver computers at all, or so the 9 year old customer service girl said!

You could take a risk & go with PBT - I'm sure they will be cheaper

Of course they will! I sent one to Auckland recently. From Invercargill it was $36.

Don't try PBT, they are shocking.
