469461 2006-07-08 11:03:00 I was out this afternoon looking around the card yards, more window shopping then anything.
when I was in wholesale cars direct I over heard one of the saleman talking about a car with a couple
customer:what sought of motor has it
salesman: 6 cylinder V6, and its economical
me: (silently laughing) compared to a V8
The car in question was a late model maxima.
It just makes me laugh to hear this bull**** from them.

Looks like a pretty economical engine/vehicle combo to me: www.fueleconomy.gov

469463 2006-07-08 22:27:00 Nevermind, I was walking around a car yard once looking for a car when the salesman asked me if I was picking out the colours I liked so that my Dad could come down and then choose a car for me. I kid you not. I told him he just lost a cash sale and stalked off the yard.

This was a few years ago now. Doubt anyone with that sort of sales pitch would of lasted long in the job.

Not my one, thirsty as hell for running about, not bad on open road, might be economical compared to your yank tanks

Seems a perfectly normal question to ask :stare: :stare: :stare:

I wonder why car saleswomen are seldom if ever seen? Maybe it's a throw back to the Henry Ford days when you could buy a car with any colour as long as it was black.

469466 2006-07-09 01:15:00 But if Jen had seen a saleswoman she would have got just the right colour to match her hand bag, and Dad wouldn't be needed :D

I purchased a car a few years ago and when I went to pick it up they sent the 'office lady' down the road to put some petrol in it.

She was gone a lonnnng time and looked quite flustered when she returned. Apparently she couldn't get the engine to switch off even after taking the keys out, so kept putting the key back in the ignition and trying to 'start/stop it' (ouch!!!), unfortunately she didn't know it had a turbo timer.

I'm sure that things are quite different now and I know more than a few women who would make good car salespersons :D

Depending on the circumstance the guy could have been right.

I've got a 10 yr old Honda wagon and it's a lot more thirsty on open road driving than the 2005 V6 commodore I toured the South Island in last year.

I did an Wellington --> Auckland return drive in a 2006 Maxima a month or so ago, and the fuel cost was about 2/3's what it would cost me to get my car up there and back.

God bless rental cars and company trips :D

Its a requirement for car slaes people to be arrogant, patronising and above all, liars.

I was looking once and the salesWOMAN was telling me the blue smoke coming out the back was condensation cause it was cold.
So they're all the same.

And then theres computer salesmen. just been at a ladys house - she went into DSE to get another filter, she was the only woman in the shop which was packed and she commented on the fact, sales guy told her thats because women aren't interested ion the sort of stuff DSE sells.

Probably quite right, apart from media I wouldn't buy any of their PC bits, I prefer quality.

469469 2006-07-09 07:31:00 I'm suprised at what you're car is like plod. The engine used in the Maxima, has won the best engine awards for the last three or four generations of that particular model. No doubt, they are more economical than anything I've seen. Even the latest model at 3.5 litres beats the peanuts out of your typical mid-2 litre vehicles. techie (7177)
