2008-09-10 08:56:00 | Hey everyone. Just got a new PC AMD Athlon X2 3800+ 1GB RAM (Soon 2GB) XP 64-Bit 420W Thermaltake PSU Wondering what graphics card would be best price .vs. performance $150-$180 Choices are Gigabyte NX88G384H 8800GS 384MB GDDR3 $159.58 Palit ATI HD3850 512MB 256bit DDR3 HDMI DVI $173.59 Asustek EN9600GSO Magic 512MB $166.48 Palit NVidia Geforce 9600GT 512MB 256Bit DDR3 $169.14 Also want to consider the new PhysX thing the Nvidia has for Geforce 8 series and 9 series. Also the 9600GSO is apparently just the 8800GS renamed but this one seems to have 512MB. Any input would be helpful =) Thanks.

2008-09-11 02:05:00 | What about for crysis. Will be playing 1024x768 all on medium except shaders high. Used to play on my 8800GTS 320MB all high, how do these cards compare to the 8800GTS 320mb? Thanks. | CaptainVincent (76) | |

You could go all very high and play crysis as a slideshow if you want. Pretty slide show though. |

2008-09-11 05:50:00 | if you wish to wait and save for a little i would recommend the 4850. Hmmm, I don't even know about ATI now. All of the problems I hear about their cards =\. Does anyone in the forums sell graphics cards or 2nd hand ones?

2008-09-11 22:06:00 | 9600Gt is the fastest, 3850 next, then the other 2 to be precise.... Depends on the benchmark you use. For crysis: www.tomshardware.com Yes, but by very little. Others - 3850 on top. You have to remember benchmarks aren't all identical, one card may do better on a certain test but not on others. It also comes down to preference. I had an 850XT, a X1900XT, then went Nvidia twice, now back to ATI. There can be problems with drivers but thats not exclusive to ATI, sometimes Nvidia screws up too. No big deal, download one that works.

2008-09-12 02:53:00 | ah....are you reading the 3870 figures?.....the 9600GT beats the 3850 every time there PCT......and anyway, we cant recommend a chip one year older than the newer one can we..... As for drivers, I dont understand people updating their drivers every 2 wks or so.....I havent touched mine since install 2/1/2 months ago......I'm not too inanmoured with the new NV driver panel, but i havent had any driver issues....I hate ATI CCC even more..... If ATI OEM manufacturers made a decent cooling solution, I might consider an ATI card, however until they do, I wont touch one.
