703866 2008-09-09 08:36:00 On my desktop RH bottom toolbar, I have two little icons with a red cross through it - one for the LAN and the other one for the 1394 connection - both says a network cable is unplugged. BB is working, though, and I can't remember them being on the desktop RH toolbar. I find them annoying. How do one have them disappear (and should I let them be disappeared?)

703867 2008-09-09 09:14:00 You can disable them in 'Network Connections'. pine-o-cleen (2955)
703868 2008-09-09 19:46:00 if I disabled them, it will not affect anything?

Wouldn't you move them via msconfig?

703870 2008-09-09 20:54:00 Haven't tried that - only because I don't want to stuff up a well running system (touch wood). So what do you do - untick in msconfig?

703871 2008-09-09 20:59:00 easy Enough to remove the Icons - as pine-o-cleen said go into the control panel/ network connections, locate the 1394 connection & LAN connection , right click it/properties, on the bottom of the general tab - then untick the boxes As shown here (www.imagef1.net.nz).

PS:Sometimes it doesn't work until after a reboot.

Edited: msconfig wont do anything - theres no setting to change in there. Sometimes you need to leave the top tick - show when connected, but remove the bottom one.

703872 2008-09-10 00:14:00 Another technique is just to leave them hidden in the system tray.

Right-click on the start button -> Properties -> taskbar ->
tick hide inactive icons -> customise -> change icons to "always hide" -> ok -> ok
