470848 2006-07-14 10:54:00 This is my first time selling a car privately.

I've listed the car on trade me, if it does get sold, do I need to fill a Suplier Information Notice form ? Or is it just for registered motor vehicle trader only?

Thanks

470849 2006-07-14 11:07:00 No, you don't need one.

I don't know what it's for, but it's nothing to do with the private car sale process. You do need to fill in your part of a change of ownership form though.

470850 2006-07-14 11:08:00 If you're a private seller you have to fill in the seller's Change of Ownership form and (technically) you don't hand over the vehicle until the buyer has filled in and passed into a Postshop their form. Though in practice this is impractical. Big failing in the system IMHO as I have recently been messed about by this myself. Go to a post shop and ask them, get the forms. mark c (247)

470852 2006-07-14 13:52:00 If you're a private seller you have to fill in the seller's Change of Ownership form and (technically) you don't hand over the vehicle until the buyer has filled in and passed into a Postshop their form. Though in practice this is impractical. It's not impractical really. Buyers chooses to purchase the vehicle, goes to Post Shop and completes the form, and seller doesn't hand over vehicle until the ownership transfer has been shown to be completed.

Really important, because if not done the seller remains lable for any infingements the vehicle later incurs.
