| 703808 | 2008-09-10 03:26:00 | Speedy - in reply to your 2:06pm today post: I'm sure that I will have downloaded several Windows updates since SP2. There was no crash/BSOD. Just a blank screen, and no disk activity. Will do another Hijackthis as advised. KB |

| 703810 | 2008-09-10 06:54:00 | I am delighted to advise that my PC2 is back on line, and running well. Many thanks to all who offered advice and help. The solution, in the end, was exquisitely simple - UNINSTALL ZONE ALARM. KB. | kbcad (1025) | ||
| 703811 | 2008-09-10 11:49:00 | That solution has fixed a couple of problems for me too! However, your symptoms don't jump out as firewall ones. Nice relief to get your machine back I am sure. |

| 703812 | 2008-09-10 22:33:00 | For linw - now that my PC2 is up and running again, I have been able to establish what happened, which will explain why my problems were not initially apparent as Firewall; 1) In trying to network my 2 PC's I unwittingley turned off my security in Network Magic. 2) I then turned off ZoneAlarm 3) I instantly had connection to the 'Net, but also picked up an intruder via my wireless connection. 4) I fixed this by turning on my security in NM 5) I rebooted (which re-initiatedZonealarm) and had blank screen 6) Tried everything for a day and a half 'til eventually uninstalling ZoneAlarm. Replaced with Comodo from Speedy's sig. KB. |
