469894 2006-07-11 11:26:00 Nope, we are now talking about the Release Candidate for Firefox ver 2.0, the very latest. I have been using the one I suggested in the link and it is faster and better so far in every way than ver 1.5.0.4 and that was really good anyway!!!

Slicker feel and snappier as well, I like it.

Thanx. I just downloaded . Agreed. It is allot faster than the current version.. Just wait for theb temes to be updated but I suspect that this won't happen until final release..

469896 2006-07-11 22:14:00 There is actually a slightly newer version here:

ftp.mozilla.org

The link I gave before was rc1, and this is rc3, with a newer date by 2 days.

Hmm, if they are up to FF2 b1 rc3 , then the next one might be FF2 b1 ? The 'public release' of it might happen then.

The one I downloaded this morning was Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.8.1b1) Gecko/20060707 Firefox/2.0b1
So which version is this one??
paulw (1826)
469898 2006-07-12 02:42:00 Judging by the date, it is probably rc1. I wouldn't bother downloading rc3 unless you have obvious problems though. Maybe wait for the actual beta 1.

I think I have this right...

rc is release candidate? So after the rc's comes the actual thing? In this case a beta.

469900 2006-07-12 07:12:00 Use the portable version so that you can still keep your old version until you are satisfied that you are ready for the full instal when it appears very soon ie that all your extensions that you cannot do without are working, unlike what has happened before that you have to wait for a while until the extension developers have updated the version to the latest Firefox version.

So far ver 2.0 seems better than 1.5.0.4 to me.
