703981 2008-09-10 01:01:00 Hi
Can anyone enlighten me please.
Using Firefox 3.0.1 when I click a link, for example the page numbers at the bottom of a Google search result and certain other links like the Login button on my banking page, a small dot shows onscreen just above the link. Can someone explain the reason for this please?
Thanks
JonB

703983 2008-09-10 05:42:00 Is it something like this? Attached file: firefox_dot.jpg (www.imagef1.net.nz) (7 KB)

My dot appears black, not green.

703985 2008-09-10 05:48:00 Hmm I see what you mean.

Coz you can click on one of the o's (or on any of the letters in the word Google), and the dot will also appear on that letter as well

But the dot doesnt appear in IE 7

703986 2008-09-10 05:51:00 Back to my colour fixation. If you click on the Previous and Next links (coloured blue), the dot also appears blue! Jen (38)
703987 2008-09-10 05:53:00 Right, Jen has saved me the trouble of taking a screenshot.
That is exactly what I get, a black dot as the link is clicked.
I was concerned that it is a logger of some sort, especially when I submit my log-in details with Westpac or the like. It does not appear on all types of link.

Question remains........what is the Firefox Dot about?

Not sure why though.

If you r-click, say the Google page links, you can keep the dot in view.

Jen......why if it also occurs in Linux makes it a "non-nasty"?

703990 2008-09-10 06:22:00 If it were nasty then everyone who's using FF, would be infected

Because they'll be seeing the same dot (if theyre bothering to look at it)

I wouldnt worry about it
