705003 2008-09-13 11:17:00 Hi, I have a PCI card, Leadtek tv tuner .

When I record TV and the file size becomes 4GB . . it splits the file to a 2nd file that is 97MB and then it just gives up .

Is it possible for it to do automatic recording, ie . , when the filesize is reached it will automatically use a diff file and exceed 97MB . . . . .

The drive is on FAT32, if I change it to NTFS . . what is the new filesize, would it increase?

Thanks .

705004 2008-09-13 12:13:00 Yes, if you change the file format to NTFS the video file will get bigger like 5 - 6+ GB's depending on how long the thing your recording is.

Just a note on changing the file format will require you to reformat the hard drive & reload windows.

No it won't.
Not sure about W2k or Vista (Should be the same), but XP can let you convert a fat32 drive partition to NTFS while it's still running.

The 'convert' command is what you use from the command prompt.

Though backing up first is a bloody good idea first :xmouth:

705006 2008-09-15 00:06:00 May be a bug in the software. Many software programs can happily
split files into 2G subfiles on the fly without crashing.

What software are you using to record??

705007 2008-09-15 00:38:00 Its the file size limit of FAT32. You'll have to convert it to ntfs

To get beyond 4 GB. Open a command prompt, and type convert /? on how to do it

705008 2008-09-15 08:55:00 Any reason why it does 4GB and then does a 97MB file and just stops recording ... When I look at the screen all it is doing is just playing the recorded file on the monitor .... as what it does when you finish recording normally ..... Why doesn't it do say 2x 4GB files?

I am just using the PVR or whatever original Leadtek software.

What version of the PVR program have you got? As the latest version gives you the option to split it when you record.
