704910 2008-09-13 05:54:00 Being a long time cable user ive recently switched to adsl as the flat i moved into when i i moved out of my parents house didnt have telstra,
the price with xnet is decent, $70 for the connection and $1 per gig usage, we capped at 100gig for a total of $170 a month depending on how much we use.
This is the same price my parents paid for an 80gig 10mbit connection from telstra.
so obviously i expected a drop in speed and when i tested my connection on speedtest.net i got 3000/750, not as good as telstra but everone around me was saying it was really good, so i expected torrents to work well.
BUT NO!!!
very annoyed, i should be getting way better than 30KB/s spread across 3 torrents, even if they are unhealthy.
for example ive had one torrent going for 2 days now, 7000seeds 20,000peers and im getting 10KB/s.
10!!!!

its insulting

is the state of NZ adsl really this bad?

704911 2008-09-13 05:58:00 No problems with some torrents here on Xnet.
Some do get really crap speeds but that won't be Xnet's fault.
I have downloaded a lot of torrents at over 200KB/s.

i thougth torrents were illegal yet they still allow you to download them? Not all torrents are illegal, there are many legal torrents available from various places. Not all are pirated software/music or movies.

704916 2008-09-13 08:41:00 The bittorrent protcol and use of bittorrent clients/trackers/etc is not illegal. No filesharing programs are. It's what you do with them that can be illegal. Agent_24 (57)
704917 2008-09-13 08:59:00 Like that cowboy that robbed that bank and shot a guard with his torrent download.

Nasty gear in the wrong hands.

704919 2008-09-13 23:28:00 just in case you may of overlooked it if you havent port forwarded your ports for the torrent program then your torrents will download much slower.

Im also on Xnet Fusion, recently I upgraded my router from a dse adsl wireless router to a belkin n series adsl wireless router, On the dse the max speed i got was 3400/750 now im getting 6500/780.
