473038 2006-07-24 01:32:00 Here's an interesting web site for a new movie that I suspect you won't see here in NZ .

473039 2006-07-24 02:48:00 Paul - I understand that movie was shown at a Wellington film festival. I've also read reviews that suggest it isn't exactly unbiased or even up to date. Nevertheless it supposed to be a good documentary film. Winston001 (3612)

473043 2006-07-24 22:08:00 Didn't it say it cost a cent per mile.? Cicero (40)
473044 2006-07-24 23:26:00 Its costs to have a vehicle, its costs to use power.................its costs to live full stop, and not always a monetary cost........ health - both physical and emotional take its toll due to stress.
sometimes wonder why we bother to struggle with some of this daily toil....:p

but then it costs a lot to die as well............. so youre not winning any which way you look at it....

Ah but thats someone elses bill. They can't make you pay it once you're dead.
Or you could donate yourself to med school and then its free to be dead too.

473046 2006-07-25 03:28:00 1c a mile? So it uses less than 1/10 of a kWh per mile? Down a steep hill, maybe. That would hardly run the windscreen wipers. And what does a replacement battery cost? $15000? It's a lot bigger than a laptop one. Li-Ion seem to be good for 500 or so cycles. So at 250 miles/charge, that starts to look like real money per mile. Then you would have RUC in NZ. Plus tyres, registration, insurance, and all the other "little" things which cost money.

Dream on.
