472247 2006-07-20 03:29:00 Symantec’s story will look to some like a competitive swipe at MicroSoft's Vista, now that the two are direct competitors in the market for add-on security software .

As valid as the criticisms might be, the fact that a brand new operating system exhibits a previously unknown set of security issue, is hardly surprising .

. . . just an interesting read, that's all . . . . . . :groan:

472248 2006-07-20 04:25:00 I would expect Symantec and others like it would be rubbing their hands in glee at the thought of and entirely new operating system that has unknown vulnerablilities to patch .

If however there are FEW vulnerabilities, (yeah, right . . . ) then their business model might be under threat .

472249 2006-07-20 04:39:00 Ever noticed how quickly Symantic report on a new virus in the wild? Also they are one of the first with a fix, usually within hours. Makes you think what these guys do in their spare time  Oh well it will be interesting to see how much Symantic's virus scanner slows down Vista. If it's anything like it is on XP, then watch out. Each to their own I suppose. :2cents: intel hunter (6666)
