471876	2006-07-19 03:04:00	I'm arriving at Wellington on Tuesday morning and leaving the same night. I'm planning on visiting Te Papa Museum and maybe try out that cable car. All up thats about 3 hours of my day gone. Take off two hours for brekkie, lunch and maybe dinner... that gives me around seven hours left with nothing to do... anyone have any suggestions? Oh, I don't drive so something within walking distance from the train station / Te Papa would be nice... How much is the LOTR bus tour around Welly cost?	bob_doe_nz (92)
471877	2006-07-19 03:29:00	Hi Bob* I was in Wgton recently and found that a couple of hours did not do justice to the Lord of the Rings display and all of its sound-bite video displays at Te Papa. If it is still on - mind-blowing. Especially the mini-army creatures that were programmed individually to fight. The claim is that the first time they were "sent in to battle" many of them ran away - although they had not been so programmed.	Scouse (83)
471878	2006-07-19 03:34:00	If you have a political interest, Parliament is sitting next Tuesday - go along to the public gallery and (probably) be bored brainless. They also do parliamentary tours - maybe scout around for memos to Telecom? I was down there a few weeks ago for a meeting, which finished early, so I went along to parliament to see what was happening. Their new security protocols (such as they are) give off the vibe that things are much more secure than before. But even in spite of that, I managed to find myself (quite by accident) wandering down hallways I was obviously not meant to be in, walking past open office doors with placards reading "Clerk of the House", "Speaker of the House", and so on. No-one once challenged me... Oh - and parliament was tear-inducingly boring - when I got there there were only about 20 mps left in the chamber, and when I left there were less than a dozen... Its still on, and this is the only reason I want to go to Wellington :D The prices for the cafes inside Te Papa are just like Snobby Ponsonby prices :p I might try out Parliament. 471883	2006-07-19 06:08:00	Hell, What a question? There's heaps to do in Wellington but I suggest you think outside the square . Grab a train from Wellington Station, one leaves every half hour, and take a ride out into the suburbs . Ask one of Trans Metro's friendly staff for a Day Rover Ticket . This will cost you ten buck$ . It will allow you to travel all day if you want . In addition, you can get off and explore the towns along the way . When you get back on the train there in no further cost . You have two choices - either the Hutt Valley or the Paraparaumu Line . I recommend the Paraparaumu Line . The Hutt Valley is scenically challenged but there are fantastic views to be seen as the train gets on the Kapiti Coastline . Get off an explore the quaint little arty town, Paekakariki with their sidewalk cafe's, art gallieries etc and then travel up to Paraparaumu . Have a look around, hit the shops and back on the train to Wellington . Be aware though, the all round travel time is approximately two hours so time will fly . Always does when you are havin' a great time!! Next time you are in town allow enough time to visit Kapiti Island . There are restrictions but well worth the effort .
