471917 2006-07-25 20:56:00 Well that was a fun time down there .

The first thing I noticed was that there was no strong sea water smell that you usually get as well as the temperature being not that cold .

I exited the train station building where a lady was giving out free boxes of Hubbards Outward Bound cereal . I asked for two, shoulda got three .

I went along the waterfront to Te Papa to find its closed, so I go to McD's for some greasy slop . I check out what places are available and walk along Tory street to the Unknown Soldiers memorial . Take a few pictures of that, walk up to the art gallery and marvel at all the Wellington Blonds ;)

Anywho I end up going back down Tory Street then along Wakefield to the information centre . There I grab a kilo's worth of pamphlets and proceed to the Cable Car .

You guys were not kidding about the view . . . It was nice!

Take a few pictures there as well as in the tram museum and then head to Te Papa .

First thing I did was go see the LOTR exhibit . Was a little disappointed . . . I'm sure those videos were all from the Extended DVD extras . . .

But the Boromir double was realistically creepy . . . You could have sworn it was Sean Bean there .

So I spend a total of five hours at the Museum, forget the time and with 30 mins to spare, I rush off to Parliament Building to go on a rather crappy tour .

(Loved the Earthquale Section as well as the living bush area)

Stopping on the way to take a picture of a sea lion eating dinner .

All the tour lady talks about is all the fancy expensive stuff that they made with our tax money and show us the gold leaf architecture .

After a rather short 30 min tour I went into the main debating chamber . . .
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
10 mins later I'm outa there . . .

By now its dark so I go back to the Cable Car and ride it up, take a few pictures and then get more greasy slop at BK for dinnner, before taking the rather uncomfortable bus back home .

And what is it with everyone wearing headphones??? Reminds me of the Cybermen Episode of Doctor thats gonna be on in a couple of weeks .

I didn't do the trains as Burnzee suggested . I didn't see the Harley that Metla mentioned, just a Britten by the espresso shop .

471918 2006-07-26 01:15:00 Sounds like it was a good day out overall. Even the bad parts (like McD's for example) are good for the experience. Greg (193)
471919 2006-07-26 01:30:00 Good to see you packed quite a few of the recomendations into your day, bob.
And I'm not surprised you forgot the time at Te Papa. Ditto...

When do we see the pix?
