(Any Wellingtonians know?)

Also agree with Metla that the cafe prices weren't too bad. Well, not for big-city-style... Dunedin Museum cafe's also good, but a little cheaper.
However, you can munch your supermarket chicken outside, Bob, while checking out the geology of the impressive rocks by the entrance.

471897 2006-07-19 11:59:00 I always recommend a trip to the top of Mt. Vic from Courtney Place on the NO.20 bus....if its a fine day the views are awesome.
Wellington must have some of the best bus rides ever.

Agreed. You can also see the Hutt Valley and the Airport from there.

Having been born in Wgton I used to ride my bike from Strathmore Park to Mount Victoria and also around the Miramar Peninsular. A small walk up the end will get you the Savage Memorial. In my opinion you would need at least three days in Wellington.

Brooklyn hill will also give views of Wellington and a wind turbine.

Bus rides? Yep - the bus drivers are the best ever. We visited Welly last year and the driver, after we got off he notices us looking lost, asked us if we were sure where we wanted to be... he let us back on and got us to the right stop.

Mt Vic - not recommended to walk in city shoes... my blisters had blisters upon them! My visit to Te Papa the next day was a sad hobbling excercise :(

Visit, or at least view the Beehive... it's great.

Try and find some of the local hidden Chinese cafe's - the food in Welly is great.

471901 2006-07-20 00:52:00 The best thing to do in Wgton is to head for the airport and get out as fast as you can.
Even Jaffaville would be better.

471904 2006-07-20 06:18:00 Bob*. Forgot to mention second-hand books shops. Fabulous. Check out Buzy Bee's Bookshop in Manners Street, not far from Te Papa. Scouse (83)
471905 2006-07-20 10:05:00 That ad on TV for Air New Zealand featuring Wellington suggests you could have an affair. That's what it seems like to me. mark c (247)
