704972 2008-09-13 08:51:00 Looks like Mcafee AV can cause this error

If you boot into safe mode, what happens after this message comes up?

Does it go into windows? Or does it reboot?

message comes up in safe mode, after the message it shuts down, although i have been lucky enough to be able to run shutdown -a to stop the reset

half of the time it freezes when trying to enter safe mode.

:/ no sign of mcafee even on the system at all

704974 2008-10-08 03:38:00 thread revive

ok after removing all of the virusses by putting the hard drive in another computer and scanning it remotely, i can get into safe mode, i scan with malwarebytes, freezes when trying to remove any of the spyware/trojans found :(

and scanning it the same way i did remotely comes up with no sign of anything, tried remotely scanning with trajan remover and malwarebytes

so no luck as of yet

704975 2008-10-08 03:58:00 That agpCPQ.sys maybe corrupted why it gets stuck

Did you have a power cut when this file started screwing things up?

Try what it says here (www.computing.net)

Try booting into Enable VGA mode instead of Safe mode. That loads Windows normally except it forces the video into a basic VGA mode that all video hardware supports, and the specific drivers for your video hardware are not loaded.

If that gets you to the desktop, you can then un-install the video drivers in Add/Remove programs and then re-install them.

drivers are all working

main thing i need to figure out how to do is get either malwarebytes or trajan remover to run when windows starts and stop anything else from running until it is done

any way to do it? like how spybot does it etc

registry?

704977 2008-10-08 19:30:00 Neither of those programs stop things from running. TR scans for nasties running on startup. And will remove them from running if it doesnt exist

Install ccleaner and disable (dont delete) any entries in startup

But I dont think this will fix it

Drivers maybe working, but like I said it maybe corrupt why it stops on agpCPQ.sys

If nothing works reformat it / do a clean install
