474383 2006-07-28 08:20:00 I'm not making a political statement about the current dispute over "ownership".
Am I correct in thinking that the hypothesis that Maori and other Polynesians are linked genetically to Taiwan refers not the Chinese but the aboriginal inhabitants who were not Chinese.

474385 2006-07-28 09:01:00 Yes you are correct. There is scientific evidence to suggest that Maori are descendents of Aboriginal Taiwanese, based on genetic analysis. I visited Taiwan a few years back, and drove past some Aboriginal villages - they have the same sort of red/black patterns which are typical of traditional Maori artwork such as those in marae.

Of course, this is disputed by many Iwi in NZ.

474386 2006-07-28 10:53:00 That was what I was taught in Year 9 Social Studies, in that there were scientific research that links NZ Maoris to aboriginal Taiwanese.

Have a look at what Google has to say: www.google.co.nz

Maybe Ninjabear can shed some light with regards to this issue?

Cheers :)

474387 2006-07-28 11:40:00 Yup, successive waves of slightly better than monkeys rolled out from Ethiopia, to eventually populate the world, they got up to the North Pole then moved around it and came back down through China and North America, there may have been some crossings from South America to the South Sea Islands, but most came here via China. There is a very good diagram of it somewhere on the Internet but I have lost the link. Some got to Australia via India.

Verified via modern DNA analysis, also see: Seven Sisters of Eve. Mitocondrial DNA.

None of this is in serious dispute any more only some details.

Eventually we became "Modern Man". (A Joke)

474388 2006-07-28 11:56:00 Once they started leaving Africa it only took about 15,000 years to get all around the Asiatic mainland, Europe and to the bottom of South America. Some in the first wave went down to South Africa and their remnants are the Bushmen, so I have read.

Here are our closest great ape relatives:

They are more similar to us in their social ways than many would like to admit.

474389 2006-07-28 13:13:00 Genetically and linguistically, Polynesians are most closely descendent from aboriginal Taiwanese. But Melanesian and Micronesian input is inevitable.

Interestingly, taro originates from Asia, whilst kumara originates from South America. That was one of the reasons Thor Heyerdahl thought that they originated from South America. The other reason is midly racist - no-one could believe that the ancient Polynesians were smart enough to sail against the wind to reach the Americas circa 3000 B.C. Not only that, but they also sailed the other way to settle Madagascar.

474390 2006-07-28 13:53:00 Hello

I just saw someone asking for me?lol

Well according to the history.Taiwanese ancestors came from China

Just after the Song dynasty the last emperor cant remember his name was abolished

There were two parties in China just after the dyanasty .The one we now called the Communist party and another party in cantonese called Gwor Mun Don!Haha

Anyway The Communist party had a war against the other party. The communist party leader was Mao Ze Dong who were against the Gwor mun don party leader who's name is Zheung Gai sat

They both had a war against each other and eventually The gwor mun don lost the war and fled to a place call taiwan.

Taiwaneese wants to be independant and they are indeed democracy.

If you were to say to someone's who's taiwaneese as chinese they are very highly likely to say no.They are Taiwaneese. You might say they are chinese?Yes

But you see Taiwaneese isn't run by Communism and doesn't have anything to do with China.

I am not quite sure that the were maori decendants in taiwan.
Doesn't quite make sense

During the Dynasty China was bullied badly by britain, france, america and especially japan.

They took parts of China.British took over Hong Kong.Macau was taken over by portugal...Etc..

During the History. It never meantioned Maori ever reached China.

maybe the Ancestors stopped by in Britain then invaded China so then they found traces of maori ??

Japan took over places in china however after the few years and of the atomic bomb japan signed a peace deal with America.

If it wasn't for japan I think this world would be pretty much own by japanese.

Japan had the power in those days.Even the britain had to retreat from Hong Kong when japan invaded Hong Kong..

k..Getting back to the topic.

Taiwaneese came from China..

474391 2006-07-28 13:58:00 History of Earth from an alternate dimension or perhaps another planet.

History version one: monkey ancestors came out of Africa 150,000 years ago and have been fighting with each other ever since. A combination of Global Warming, population explosion and pandemic will shortly give pause to the above activity as the numbers are severely reduced then if there are any survivors and the population builds up again they will resume the squabbling. The behaviour will repeat until the sun goes nova or they run out of resources through misuse and return back to the caves again.

Remember more than 50% of the population are always below average intelligence and most of the population at any given time is ignorant and uninformed when it comes to the big picture.

"Beam me up Scotty".
