2006-07-28 07:09:00 | Washing machine . . . what's that? Lawnmower? . . . never heard of them . Cellphones were meant to fly, I've been known to end a call by throwing mine out the car window . Electric spoon? . . . sounds like SurferJoe is stirring to me :D Maybe you should have a nice comfy (dare I suggest padded?) room to retire to beetle, with all appliances safe from harm until the electrical storm has abated . Nah . . . only stirring :)

I always knew you Yanks had strange customs Joe, but an electric spoon used to empty a bowel of icecream . I wouldn't put it near my dishwasher after that either, and it begs the question: How on earth did you get the icecream in there in the first place, or did you use the electric spoon for that as well . Cheers Billy 8-{) :D |

2006-07-28 07:50:00 | Everyone has it so good these days, then complain when things breakdown :) Back in the good old days, we used to have a galvanised washtub and pounded the clothes with a 'dolly' . To make the washing look whiter, a 'dolly blue bag' was used . Then they were heaved out and put through the mangle . The washtub never broke down, and even ran well when there were power cuts  Small things were scrubbed on a washboard, these were either made of wood, or preferably ribbed galvanised iron . Washboards were also used in jazz bands, hence bands such as Jimmy Bertrands Washboard Wizards: . redhotjazz . com/songs/blythe/imgoingh . ram" target="_blank">www . redhotjazz . com Only having one cold water tap, water was heated in a bucket on the gas stove, (after putting some pennies or a shilling in the gas meter) . Though we had a copper under which a fire could be lit, wartime rationing prevented the use of coal for this purpose .

2006-07-28 08:59:00 | i have had a nitemare week, and managed to stuff oh so much this week, including sewing machines, pc's at work............ and so i have felt it best to lay low.............cos my electirc personality seems to be running on high........ so...stupid question time.............why does a washing machine beep??????? and not do anything...except cause everything to be wet...........and not wash, spin or anything...sigh the other machine just wont go at all...... :badpc: It normally says in the manual what the beeps mean. Lots of reasons, thats like asking why a PC crashed. Unbalanced load, water not draining, dead or faulty electronics board (major). I had one once that was picky about the load balancing. When it finally died we found out why, the protecty thing that stops it thrashing violently around had broken so whenever it spun fast it wobbled and it would often throw it out. And beep. You'll need an appliance person to look at it. Mine charged $25 to tell me the board had gone and it wasn't worth replacing so we got a new one. Wasn't bad - that had lasted 11 years. As for killing lost off things - wht dod you do??!!! My sons a bit like that, he breaks things. Because he rushes and is careless. Not saying you're careless but maybe slow down?

2006-07-28 09:58:00 | I think you jinxed me beetle... went off to the kitchen to make a cuppa, switched the light... or at least tried. No, not the bulb, after trying five different spare ones (what can I say- I'm a hoarder!), realised that the light fitting is stuffed. You have much to answer for :dogeye:
